John Wayne Movies .. copyright question
I was going to upload some movies starring John Wayne.
I`m still looking through my list but there are some movies that are not coming up at http://cocatalog.loc.gov
Without Reservations (AKA: Thanks God, I'll Take It from Here) (1946)
Reap the Wild Wind (1942)
The Long Voyage Home (1940)
Dark Command (1940)
Haunted Gold (1932)
Somewhere in Sonora (1933)
The Man from Monterey (1933)
The Telegraph Trail (1933)
The Big Stampede (1932)
Ride Him, Cowboy (1932)
Two-Fisted Law (1932)
Texas Cyclone (1932)
... to be continued..
The problem is that none of the major public domain distributors have them in their online catalogue so i`m not sure if those are in the public domain

Re: John Wayne Movies .. copyright question
Hey K-otic, I was searching for something else and found this. Did you ever get answers on these? I can help with most of them.
A few might be a bit complicated, for example, the first one I checked:
The Long Voyage Home (1940) was registered but not renewed
THE LONG VOYAGE HOME. Argosy Corp.
Released thru United Artists. c!940. Presented
by Walter Wanger. 12 reels, sd.
Based on four sea plays by Eugene O'Neill.
Credits: Director, John Ford; screenplay,
Dudley Nichols; music. Richard Hageman;
photography, Gregg Toland; film editor,
Walter Wanger Productions, Inc.;
But the Eugene O'Neill plays could be copyrighted: IMDB says the movie screenplay is based on the plays "The Moon of the Caribees", "In The Zone", "Bound East for Cardiff" and "The Long Voyage Home"
The Stanford Univeristy database lists all book copyright renewals, but I don't find these on therehttp://collections.stanford.edu/copyrightrenewals/bin/page?forward=home
But I don't know if plays are necessarily included in there...
Similar situation for Dark Command. Movie was registered but not renewed
DARK COMMAND. c!940. 10 reels, sd.
Based on the novel by W. R. Burnett.
Credits: Associate producer. Sol C. Siegel;
director, Raoul Walsh; screenplay, Grover
Jones, Lionel Houser, F. Hugh Herbert;
adaptation, Jan Fortune; music director,
Victor Young; photography. Jack Marta;
film editor, William Morgan.
Appl. author: Republic Productions, Inc.
Republic Pictures Corp.; 15Apr40;
But the Stanford database shows the book copyright was renewed.
